Dear our beloved students,
A heartfelt and enthusiastic welcome to our esteemed Faculty of Economics & Business (FEB). Your presence here signifies an important moment in your academic journey, and we are absolutely delighted to have you join FEB.
Within our esteemed faculty, we offer a comprehensive selection of seven undergraduate programs, encompassing the Bachelor of International Economics, Bachelor of Service Economics, Bachelor of Business Economics, Bachelor in Finance, Bachelor of Business Administration (Corporate Management), Bachelor of Business Administration (Marketing), and the highly sought-after Bachelor of Accountancy.
It's noteworthy that all our programs hold accreditation from the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA), and the Finance and Marketing programs have received additional certification from the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Network. Bachelor of Accountancy is also accredited by Malaysia Institute of Accountant (MIA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), CPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEWS), The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).
I strongly encourage each of you to step out of your comfort zones and engage with peers beyond your classes and programs. It's essential to go above and beyond the standard course requirements by delving into supplementary reading and research.
Engage in open dialogues with your peers, fostering a collaborative spirit to address the uncertainties of the future. I urge you to break free from the traditional boundaries of our faculty and adopt a new approach to learning. Learning should not be a passive endeavor but an active pursuit that nurtures your ability to develop innovative ideas independently.
In addition to broadening your knowledge horizontally, consider the prospect of advancing vertically by pursuing advanced degrees. We offer four postgraduate programs: the Corporate Master of Business Administration (CMBA), Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), Master of Science (MSc), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by research. Both our undergraduate and postgraduate programs are accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
Should you aspire to pursue further studies, early preparation is key. Ensure you have a solid and comprehensive grasp of your undergraduate subjects to excel in your academic journey.
Nonetheless, our focus should extend beyond academic pursuits; we must cultivate a diverse range of competencies, encompassing entrepreneurship, leadership, and soft skills.
Through our dedicated Student Association of the Faculty of Economics and Business (PERFEP) and affiliated program-specific associations, such as the Society of UNIMAS Accounting Society (UNIMAC), Society of Marketing Talent (SMART), Society of Finance (FIN-ACE), Society of Professional Development in Economics (SPADE), Society of Corporate Management (SICMA), and the Postgraduate Association Faculty of Economics & Business (PAFEB), our students are actively engaged in endeavors to foster not only their academic qualifications but also their personal attributes, soft skills, and entrepreneurial acumen, empowering them to navigate an uncertain future that is both challenging and promising.
It's imperative to acknowledge that these co-curricular activities have gained even more significance in the face of challenging economic circumstances, whether the pandemic persists or, in the event of its resolution, as the economic landscape undergoes transformations.
We recognize that the future will present unprecedented challenges, surpassing what we might have envisioned not too long ago. Pre-pandemic, we were already anticipating the impact of Industry Revolution 4.0 and Artificial Intelligence on the professional landscape, but the rapidity and extent of change wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic was unforeseen.
This pandemic has accelerated transformations in ways hitherto unimagined. You are not only expected to stay safe and be healthy, and to learn and obtain degrees and formal qualifications; but yet you also expected to build capabilities to adapt to a more challenging economic situation.
In line with the Faculty’s motto: “Focus, Energetic and Bold”, we take these challenges with pride and honour.
