Master of Science (MSc)

The aim of the research programme is to produce graduates in Master of Science in line with the UNIMAS desire to expand and move far beyond the academic and research excellence. In order to satisfy this aim, Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) has been formulated based on the visions and missions of UNIMAS.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

(Economics)

The programme shall produce graduates who are:

PEO1: Competent professionals to undertake indipendent research that contributes to the advancement of fundamental and applied knowledge in business, economics, and finance in the country and the wider intellectual communities.

PEO2: Competent leaders that can lead and motivate others in problem solving through team effort in analytical and communication abilities.

PEO3: Competent professionals with a keen sense of lifelong learning interest in broadening own knowledge in expertise area and other related fields (lncluding ICT), in order to effectively exploit opportunities in the relavan industries.

PEO4: Responsible individuals with ethical and professional values in their professional undertakings, either in chosen field of employment or independent research.

The programme shall produce graduates who are:

PEO1: Competent professionals able to undertake independent research that contributes to the advancement of fundamental and applied knowledge in business and administration in the country and the wider intellectual communities.

PEO2: Competent leaders that can lead and motivate others in problem solving through team effort in analytical and communication abilities.

PEO3: Competent professionals with a keen sense of lifelong learning interest in broadening own knowledge in expertise area and other related fields (including ICT), in order to effectively explore and exploit opportunities in the relevant industries.

PEO4: Responsible individuals with ethical and professional values in their professional undertakings, either in chosen field of employment or independent research.

Duration of the Programme

The Master of Science (MSc) degree is a full research programme under the supervision of an experienced member of academic staff or a supervisory panel. A panel is made up of graduate staff and experts from either within or outside the University.

Students may choose their research topics from the fields of studies offered by the faculty ranging from accounting and finance, marketing and management to entrepreneurship and economics.

The duration of studies is:

• Full Time: 2 - 4 years
• Part Time: 3 - 6 years

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

(Economics)

At the end of the programme, graduates must be able to:

PLO1: Demonstrate mastery of knowledge in the area of business, economics and finance.

PLO2: Apply practical skills in the area of business, economics and finance.

PLO3: Generate solutions to problems using scientific and critical thinking skills.

PLO4: Demonstrate leadership qualities through communication and working effectively with peers and stakeholders.

PLO5: Manage information for lifelong learning.

PLO6: Relate ideas to societal issues in the research area.

PLO7Conduct research with minimal supervision and adhere to legal, ethical and professional codes of practice.

PLO5: Communicate effectively the knowledge, skills, ideas and research findings to diversity of stakeholders.

PLO6: Ability to utilize appropriate information technology skills in research work for problem solving.

PLO7: Apply information management to develop business and administration system.

PL08: Demonstrate leadership qualities through communication and working effectively with peers and stakeholders in business and administration field.

PLO9: Demonstrate self-advancement through continuous lifelong learning strategies.

PLO10: Integrate knowledge and skills for the development competencies.

PLO11: Exhibit ethical and professional values in conducting research by adhering to legal, ethical and professional codes of practice.

Entry Requirements (as approved by Senate Nos. 04/2020 -189)

  • A Bachelor degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent, as accepted by the Senate; or
  • A Bachelor degree or equivalent with at least CGPA of 2.50 and did not achieve CGPA of 2.75, may be admitted depends on rigorous internal evaluation, or
  • A Bachelor degree or equivalent but with CGPA less than 2.50, may be admitted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field.
  • Other equivalent qualifications approved by the Senate.
  • For international students, a minimum IELTS Score of 5.0 or its equivalent ( eg. TOEFL-525; TOEFL Computer Test-196; TOEFL Internet Test 69-70 or MUET Band 3) is required.

Duration of Study

The normal duration of study for a Master's degree (by research) is (2-4) years full-time or (3-6) years part-time.
