Assalamualaikum wbt and Salam Sejahtera.

Welcome to the Faculty of Economics & Business (FEB), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas). We are located in a beautiful university campus in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak, facing a lake which is famously known as the ‘Bridge of Love’. This lake and bridge can be seen from our Faculty building.

FEB started from a humble beginning with only two programmes – the Bachelor of Economics in Industrial Organization and the Bachelor of Economics in International Economics. Now we host seven undergraduate programmes comprising four in Economics (International Economics, Service Economics, Business Economics), another four in Business Administration (Finance, Corporate Management and Marketing), and finally the much-coveted Accounting programme.

In addition, we have three postgraduate programmes: Corporate Master of Business Administration (CMBA), Masters of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by research with the Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) programme to be offered soon. Our undergraduate and postgraduate programs are accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

As the Dean, I am proud to say that the Faculty’s continuous success is due to our staff’s commitment and dedication. Almost 70% of our academicians are PhD holders, another 10% are still pursuing their PhD program and the remaining 20% will embark their PhD in the near time. Apart from teaching and learning, our academic staffs are actively involved in research and publication, and they are engaged with the community and are active in building linkages with industry.

The achievements of our academic staff are made possible with a small group of dedicated administrative staff, working tirelessly to ensure the smooth administration of our Faculty. More importantly, our own students are becoming more active in our Faculty. Through the Student Association of Faculty of Economics and Business (PERFEP) and associations related to each programs, Society of UNIMAS Accounting Society (UNIMAC), Society of Marketing Talent (SMART), Society of Finance (FIN-ACE), Society of Professional Development in Economics (SPADE); Society of Corporate Management (SICMA) and Postgraduate Association Faculty of Economics & Business (PAFEB), our own students are active in efforts to build and develop not only their academic credentials, but also to build and develop their characters and other soft skill and entrepreneurial capabilities to empower them to take charge of in an uncertain future that are both exciting and at the same time threatening.

We expect students to be even more involved in the future as we continuously strive to be the best for our students, for our state and for our country.

We understand that the future would be challenging. On the one hand we are facing I.R. 4.0 which would significantly change the working environment, and thus the role of higher education institutions in ensuring employability of students in an age where many traditional occupations and jobs would disappear would have to significantly change too; and on the other hand we are facing uncertainties in obtaining the critical resources to fund our activities to ensure our relevance in such a future.

As such, we believe that we will have to continuously change and adapt to the new realities. In line with the Faculty’s motto: “Focus, Energetic and Bold”, we take these challenges with pride and honour.

I invite you to explore our Faculty either online or through a visit to our campus. I look forward to working with you all - Welcome to FEB! Barakallahufiikum.

"Dare to Dream, We’ll make it Happen Together"
